Are wheelchairs allowed on the ice?

Modified on Fri, 22 Nov, 2024 at 12:19 PM

Wheelchairs are allowed onto the ice during SEN/SEND sessions and our staff are happy to assist. For health and safety reasons we are unable to allow wheelchair access during our other sessions.

If the wheelchair is electric it must be operated in manual mode, or operated at a slow enough speed to ensure the chair is always fully under full control and able to stop without causing a hazard to the user or other skaters.

Please note there is a small step (~7cm) to enter and exit the ice. Wheelchair users must be able to safely enter/exit the ice, and if assistance is required, the assisting person(s) must remain within close proximity of the wheelchair user at all times.

An accessible ramp is available via a dedicated entrance and exit to the ice during SEND sessions.
